SIMS Khula has been evaluated using the Final Codes of Good Practice on BBBEE for exempted Micro Enterprises, and has achieved a BBBEE Recognition Level Four with a 100% procurement recognition - 32.54% Black Ownership and 10.1% Black Women Ownership.

The holding company of SIMS Khula, SIMS (Stimela Infrastructure Management Service), was established by Fezile Dantile and George van Rooyen, in 2001. SIMS was formed from an original company by the name of Transport Training and Facilitation Services - a company that has been involved with training and management services since 1997. SIMS is a BBBEE company with a 53% BBBEE shareholding. SIMS was initially created to ensure effective and efficient infrastructure management services including Equity Plans, Effective and Innovative Management, Health and Safety and Environmental Solutions and Skills Development Services.
