The holding company of SIMS Khula, SIMS (Stimela Infrastructure Management Service), was established by Fezile Dantile and
George van Rooyen, in 2001.
SIMS was formed from an original company by the name of Transport Training and Facilitation
Services - a company that has been involved with training and management services since 1997. SIMS is a BBBEE company with
a 53% BEE shareholding. SIMS was initially created to ensure effective and efficient infrastructure management services including
Equity Plans, Effective and Innovative Management, Health and Safety and Environmental Solutions and Skills Development
Services.
The Skills Development function grew so extensively that a new subsidiary of SIMS, SIMS Khula was created in 2004, with the
function of dealing with skills development and SAQA-related services on behalf of the holding company. The client group now
consists of clients in a variety of sectors.
SIMS Khula has been evaluated using the Final Codes of Good Practice on BBBEE for
exempted Micro Enterprises, and has achieved a BEE Recognition Level of 110% with a 52.5% Black Ownership and 11% Black
Women Ownership.
